David & Connie

David & Connie Berrett:
December started off with cold weather....at least cold for us. I like to sit in the recliner with 3 blankets and the fireplace on. Our first news of the month was that Jo and Darin might be moving to Texas. I'm not excited for that. David and I went to the First Presidency Christmas devotional, it is always so good.
The kids gave us tickets to the NFR so we headed downtown, a trip we RARELY ever take. But it was great. They had a really super opening act honoring the Military men and women and Pearl Harbor. We had a lot of fun, and appreciate the kids thinking of us. Course it was one of the few nights of the year that it rains in Vegas. But that just made it more Christmasy.

Mike and Sandi Smith always come down to the Rodeo so they come out to Reid & Laura's house on Wed. and we had Lunch for them. It's always great to see them and catch up on what’s happening in their family’s lives.

Then Thursday Betty Jo, Darin, and Daysie flew to Texas while I watched the kids Thursday night then with the help of Laura taking 2 and me one. Then Laura took all 3 Saturday evening until Betty Jo got home so I could attend our Stake Conference. It was GREAT we had general authority Kevin Pearson come and speak, AWESOME stuff.

Mom's sister Dorothy died Dec 17th. So I convinced Betty Jo, to go with me up to Utah to take Mom to the funeral. She had been bad and in a home for several years so it was a blessing. Although Mom still had a hard time with it. We had a quick trip up Monday and back Tuesday. There was a snow storm Tuesday however we were blessed with clear roads except about 3 minutes at the top of Beaver Mountain.

Wednesday the 23rd was our annual Joseph Smith Birthday/Christmas party. Julie and Mckae, Angie and Brian made it also. The grandkids get a little lesson on Joseph Smith, we have birthday cake, and then they get a "Happy Birthday Joseph" present. (Pj's from Grandma) We have homemade pizza around the tree and then the grandkids do the nativity. We even included Samuel this year (Hanna) told of the prophecy to come. They were so cute, Trevor of course was Joseph, he pushes Mary (Kylie) in on a "wooden horse”, Brielle was the Angel, Sadie and Hanna were Shepherds, Natalie was a "cow", and Daysie was baby Jesus.
Connie was surprised with a huge can rotating shelf setup, that she had been wanting, the kids exchanged their gifts and then we had a surprise visit from Jolly old Saint Nicholas. It is so nice to have family close. Our little nativity will be very small next year when the Davis' are in TX. =(
The next day Christmas Eve, my fridge went out..... so luckily it was cold enough outside we could put stuff out there until Saturday when David could get the part to fix it. I took Mom and we went to Schulthies to babysit while they ran last minute errands, then Laura made tamales and horchata, and flan while David and Reid went to check out my fridge. When they got back we had a great "Christmas Eve" lesson by Reid, and then we all unwrapped a gift.... a TAMALE!!!! How fun is that! It was really good and we enjoyed spending Christmas Eve with them.

Christmas day was wonderful, we slept in and then went and saw what the kids got from Santa. Then came home to make rolls and go to Laura's for dinner....It was yummy!

Julie's good friend was having her farewell Sunday so they came down again for it. We love it when they come.

New Year's eve we were chaperone's for the "Single Adults", that's the ones over 30.....when they asked us, I told David, what do they need chaperones for???? But it was more, David walks the ground for security, and I check them in....I decided that is when you know you are OLD and have no life... when the ward comes to you and asks "do you not have any thing planned for New Years Eve"

Looking forward to 2010 and knowing it is going to be an awesome year, regardless of what happens! Knowing the Lord is in control. What a great gospel, I love it and am thankful to have it in my life.
