Vivian & David

April was a month packed with several things going on. Of course it began with General Conference, but we missed both of the afternoon sessions because of the viewing and then the funeral for Dr. Bob Wagner, the former president of PPI.
After the funeral his son Jim who is the president of the Emory University invited us to the Univ. President's home for a buffet dinner. Afterwards I stayed overnight at a local GA Mother's home so we could drive to Columbia, South Carolina together the next day to participate in the honoring of the SC state Mother of the Year during a luncheon then the Tea in her honor at the Governor's mansion with the new Governor.
Our Atlanta Temple Open House was a big event for us this month. David and I were asked to be tour guides for a shift one day plus we had a couple of training meetings. I was asked to be responsible for the drinks for the guests that were invited to visit the reception tent after the tour. For the open house I had invited over 50 people to come to the Temple open house. Here is a response from one of them "Thank you so much for your invitation to view the Temple. I really enjoyed seeing it and meeting several of your friends. My experience at the Temple was very uplifting. I felt an incredible reverence amongst the beauty of the Temple. I especially was moved in the celestial room, the wedding room and the study room with the incredible wall murals. As I expected, everyone I met was absolutely delightful. BTW, I ran into a childhood neighborhood friend who was a VIP touring the Temple also. He also was incredibly moved." I later learned at Stake Council Meeting that "one of my friends" was the Stake President.
At the request of the Keck's, our former neighbors, David and I had lunch with them to answer questions. Plus I have been invited to have lunch with one of my friends to answer questions about their temple tour. David and I were set apart as ordinance workers and have been asked to do the Friday and Saturday morning shift beginning the first week of May. Our highlight was having Grant fly to Atlanta to attend the temple open house and to have Gregory and his family decide to drive down so we all could go on a temple tour together.
While Grant was here we had a lot of fun playing a variety of games, going to the new community park and playing baseball together on the new field, and going to watch a high school lacrosse game and going out for ice cream. On Easter Sunday (after our Easter activities and church) Grant and I flew to Salt Lake City together to take Grant home and for me to visit with family before our annual American Mothers Convention which was in SLC this year.
While I was there Lila and Reta took me to meet up with Elaine and with Kathleen and Earlene for our fun cousin's luncheon (and I got to inform Kathleen that David & I had just had her daughter, Trish and family, over to our home the previous Sunday for Dinner).
Our Convention was good and I was excited that the new Florida state president that I had just recruited was able to come! My favorite was having Stephanie join me for some workshops and lunch with John Bytheway as the speaker. Sherri Dew was a guest speaker for dinner and the previous night Elaine Dalton was there with her daughter who had been selected as a state Young Mother. On Sunday morning all the convention attendees were invited, and many attended, the Music and the Spoken Word at the Tabernacle.
