Hello family, since I have not submitted an entry for a while, this will be a quarterly newsletter entry. May began by me being in Utah attending BYU Women's Conference with Stephanie. While I was there I got to attend a Provo temple session with Cynthia.
Nicolas turned two in May; he loves airplanes. He had a birthday party with his little friends at the city water park and his Dad had made him a homemade airplane cut-out birthday cake. David and Gregory also built him and Amelia a sand box while we were there.
Elder & Sister Uffens were on their way home from South Africa and were in Atlanta visiting their daughter, where we got to have dinner with them and some good visiting. Then later on in the week, we got to have them to ourselves for a day and brought them to our home, did some sight seeing, and they were chosen to be the witness couple at the session David and I officiated in at the temple that evening.
Later that night, we dedicated our home.
Branch One in Madadeni was planning and preparing a temple trip to Johannesburg; I wrote some letters to Nozipho and Buyi. I received some letters from our South Africa friends including a Mother's Day card from Gabisile in Newcastle.
My TB test turned out ok.
We had over 20 friends, from our former ward, for a "Thank You Dinner Party". There were so many friends that had helped up move our things to and from the storage units from our Wellington Lake home two years ago and now move again to our new home. We don't know what we would have done without their help and love.
With the Douglas' we went to a live play of the Jersey Boys at the Fox Theatre.
There was a sprinkling of lunches with friends and talking about our mission experiences, including the Keck's our former neighbors; and our PPI friends the Darsts. I also attended the Forsyth County Newcomers Club Luncheon. Otherwise, I even produced a few home cooked meals from my new kitchen.
We began getting the storage room unpacked and getting water in the jugs; getting the can-o-rack organized. I canned my own flour in some cans.
I accepted the invitation to serve as the Southeast area coordinator and be on the national board for the American Mothers, Inc. organization.
One Sunday I was a substitute teacher for Relief Society.
We finished up our Book of Mormon Institute class and they were persuaded to have the class be for 90 minutes when we return in the fall.
JUNE began with a trip going to Nashville where we got to take Amelia bowling for her upcoming birthday; watch Gregory play Ultimate Frisbee in the rain, and other fun things. Then we continued our drive up to Chicago where we stayed for two nights. David and I got to go on a session at the temple; and he got to play golf with some of his business friends.
Then we drove on up to Minneapolis and stayed with David and Rebecca for a couple of days where had a lot of fun playing games and watching movies.
Then Stephanie left for BYU to teach EFY. We got to play Grandma and Grandpa and have fun with the children at the library, playing games, going to the park, and watching Grant play his baseball games.
A stake from Tennessee brought their YW and YM down to Atlanta. We got to have nine YW stay in our home between their two sessions of doing baptisms at the temple.
Our Atlanta temple closed on June 30th for re-construction and will re-open in 18 months. Like many others we will miss the temple. The attendance was greatly increased and I worked the 3rd shift everyday the last two weeks it was open.
We were able to have the Maycock's over for dinner, they were the former mission presidents in The Congo and we got to see their slides and hear about their mission.
We had about thirteen people from our new ward come over for an evening of games and dinner. It was nice to get better acquainted with some friends of our new ward. Within a couple of weeks, there were several ward boundary changes in our stake. Basically four wards were made into six wards. For David and me it is less overwhelming to go to Sacrament with less than 600 members there that you are trying to meet and get to know.
On JULY 1st we left for Salt Lake City where we got to visit some the Henrie's who live in Coleville now. We also had the privilege of taking our friend's the Ausburn's, who were our neighbors in Missouri, to the Mt. Oquirrah Temple open house with us and Steve.
Then we drove up to Boise for our Berrett Family Reunion at Ron & Reta's home. It was so wonderful [and amazing] to have all seven of the sibling and their spouses to be in attendance. I am so glad we were able to get pictures of all of us and our other extended family members were in attendance. Good times and good memories at the reunion.
The day before the reunion, I got to spend some time with Elaine in food preparation for the reunion and to be there for dinner with Mark/Lila and Marissa at the Duckett home.
After the reunion, we also got to spend a day with Owen & Sharon on a fun jet boat ride going down the Snake River in the Hell's Canyon.
On Sunday we met up with the Bowen's and Baird's in Middleton, Idaho and got to do some fun reminiscing about our missions in South Africa.
On our drive back to Utah (on Lila's birthday), we enjoyed making some stops along the way at the Malad Gorge, Shoshone Falls, and viewing the Twin Falls temple. We also enjoyed visiting the Golden Spike Museum in Brigham City. In Layton, we met up with the Nef's, some Atlanta friends, and had dinner with them.
While in Utah, we got to go with the Egan's to the new Draper Temple and have lunch together.
One day while there I made some casseroles to put in Steven's freezer, while David was playing golf with family members. We arranged for all of the SLC Dibb family members to get together in a private room for dinner while we were there.
The morning after we got home, I had my first Laurel lesson to teach. I have been called to be the new Laurel Adviser. We have a class of ten Laurels; eight of which are active.
The following week was needed to "catch-up" on home and other responsibilities.
Oh a fun FHE we had was going to the "Gwinnett" Braves Game. I loved it being so close to home and having seats so close to the players. It was a high scoring game with about 13 or 14 runs.
We are continuing trying to inventory and build up our food storage; we are getting re-stocked. David bought us a new freezer. David also helped me home can some peaches.
I also began opening and unpacking some boxes. I am working on getting the books unpacked.
The month ended on a sweet spiritual experience. I joined the YW/YM during their Book of Mormon Read-A-Thon. They began on Friday at noon and read until 11 pm. We re-begun at 8:30 the next morning and with meal times and breaks we finished at 9:45 pm on Saturday night. What a choice experience. What outstanding youth we have in our ward.
