Greg & Melinda's May

May was a great month. Melinda & I got to visit Mom & Dad in South Africa on their mission. We would have loved to have taken Amelia & Nicolas with us, but the 30 hours of plane flights seemed too much so we left them with Melinda’s sister in East Tennessee. They had fun with their cousins, and we could Skype with them occasionally.

South Africa was fun. Once we found our way out of Johannesburg, we met up with Mom & Dad at their house in Newcastle. Travel was much easier once we met up with them, because they knew what they were doing and then I didn’t have to rack my brain driving on the left side of the road anymore. I sat in the back and napped while he drove us around. We saw some pretty sights, including some giraffes & zebras at a game reserve. We also came across some baboons on a hike to a waterfall, so we cut it short and headed back down. It was great to meet Mom & Dad’s friends from church—they are wonderful people and it was fun to see how many people they have befriended and helped in their time there. We also got to meet the Mission president and see transfers when 10 new missionaries came in. Lots of fun. They would love to have anyone else come visit them—it’s a cool place to see.

Meanwhile here in the USA we celebrated Nicolas’s 1 year birthday. He is a cute little boy, running around smiling and destroying as much as possible all at once. He is a cutie and a head turner. We think he gets that from his father. (jk)
